10 toolsLegal dictation, transcription and meeting-notes tools that turn speech, calls and hearings into accurate text.
The 10 tools here split into two kinds. Five are dictation products with legal speech recognition: Dragon Legal Anywhere, with a legal vocabulary and automatic citation formatting; BigHand Professional, which bundles dictation, speech recognition and a mobile app for firms under 50 people; and OM SYSTEM ODMS Cloud, which routes recorder dictations to typists with an optional Speech Recognition Package, all three priced by quote; Philips SpeechLive, which posts legal plans per user billed annually at $21.90 for Workflow, $47.80 for Legal Direct and $54.00 for the Legal AI Assistant; and Voibe, with a free tier, dictation at $99/yr per seat and meeting notes on Voibe Work at $149/yr per seat. Five transcribe depositions, hearings and recorded evidence: Rev, with a free plan, Essentials at $25.49 per seat/mo billed annually and legal transcripts à la carte from $2.25/page; Sonix Legal at $880/yr for one user, or $10/hour pay as you go; GoTranscript at $35.00/mo for 2,100 AI minutes; TranscribeMe, with self-serve automated transcription at $0.07 per audio minute and legal transcription by quote; and Verbit, priced by quote.
Across the set the AI converts speech to text with a vocabulary trained on legal terms, formats citations as you dictate, adds speaker labels, summaries and chapters to a recording, answers questions across a case's files with citations and, in Verbit's Legal Visor, flags inconsistencies in real time during testimony; several pair the AI draft with human review for the certified transcript. Six of the 10 post a price, from free tiers at Rev and Voibe and $0.07 per audio minute to $880/yr, and four are quoted; every figure was read on the vendor's own site on October 31, 2026. Three of the 10 vendors post that client data is not used to train their AI models and name a standard: Rev and Sonix Legal name SOC 2 Type II, and Philips SpeechLive names ISO 27001; BigHand Professional and Verbit post SOC 2 and ISO 27001 statements but no statement about training. Sonix Legal is the one tool here that lists Clio as an integration, sending transcripts to it in one click; Rev folds SmartDepo deposition summaries into its legal offering, and Philips SpeechLive lists iManage.
